OSHA Proposes Rule to Better Protect Personally Identifiable Information

OSHA has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking that it says will better protect personally identifiable information or data that could be reidentified with a particular individual. This rulemaking would remove provisions of the agency's current recordkeeping rule.
New Academic and Research Council to Advance Safety and Health Profession

ASSP has created the Council on Academic Affairs and Research, its first new council in 20 years. Among its objectives, the new council will develop and maintain a research agenda that supports the OSH profession, and encourage the translation of research to practice. The group will also work to bring more students into the profession.
ASSP Urges Senate Leaders to Move Ahead on Mugno Confirmation Vote

ASSP is calling on Senate leaders to move ahead with the vote on the nomination of Scott Mugno as head of OSHA. Mugno was nominated in late October 2017 and has been approved twice by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
OSHA Silica Enforcement: Behind the Statistics

Federal OSHA enforcement of its requirements for general industry and maritime under the new silica rule started on June 23, 2018. However, OSHA will assist employers that are making good-faith efforts to meet the new standard’s requirements during the first 30 days of enforcement.
CSHS Supports Proposal for Companies to Disclose Human Capital Metrics

CSHS has filed one of many letters of support of a petition from the Human Capital Management Coalition. The coalition is calling for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to require companies to disclose key human capital metrics.
