Mentoring Program

Guidelines for Mentors and Mentees

• You must be a member of ASSP and the Oil, Gas, Mining and Mineral Resources Practice Specialty to participate in this program.
• Mentors and mentees must adhere to the ASSP Code of Professional Conduct .
• We hold all information exchanged between matched pairs for mentoring in strict confidence; applications are viewed only by the matching committee.
• Mentors and mentees should commit to at least one hour per month for a meeting, by phone, e-mail or in person.
• Each mentoring pair should download the Mentoring Handbook, a tool to navigate the mentoring relationship in a structured and effective manner.
• Teams are matched for four months. Mentors and mentees may opt to continue their relationship past the mentor program. Students will be limited to a four-month mentorship during their academic year.
• Mentors are not expected to provide employment or business opportunities for mentees — just life lessons, advice, coaching and mentoring.

Submit your application anytime. Mentor/mentee matches are made each January and August.
