Guidelines for Mentors and Mentees

• You must be a member of ASSP and the Construction Practice Specialty to participate in this program.
• Mentors and mentees must adhere to the ASSP Code of Professional Conduct.
• We hold all information exchanged between matched pairs for mentoring in strict confidence; applications are viewed only by the matching committee.
• Mentors and mentees should commit to at least one hour per month for a meeting, by phone, e-mail or in person.
• Each mentoring pair should download the Individual Development Plan, a tool to navigate the mentoring relationship in a structured and effective manner.
• Mentors and mentees will be matched once per year. Requests should be received by September 15th. Matches will be made by end of September each year. Each match will last up to 6 months and can be terminated by either party at any time or extended for 6 months more if needed.
• Mentors are not expected to provide employment or business opportunities for mentees — just life lessons, advice, coaching and mentoring.
