Why It Matters

For workplace safety initiatives to be effective, they cannot simply live in the safety or risk management department. The entire organization, from the top down, must be invested. This requires you to deploy sound training and communications practices so employees at all levels can understand the initiatives, their potential impact and how they can be implemented. This makes it especially important for you to have access to a network of peers who can help guide your efforts and provide access to the latest technical content offering direction on the unique challenges you face.

Leadership Opportunities

Go beyond belonging to the Training and Communications Practice Specialty and volunteer for a position on our advisory committee. Alternatively, consider running to be elected as assistant administrator, which leads to occupying the office of administrator after two years. As a volunteer leader, you can lend your time and expertise to our many initiatives, while developing transferable leadership and team-building skills. Leadership positions within ASSP help members reach their highest level of performance, both on the job and in the Society.
