    OSHA Launches E-Recordkeeping Data Submission Platform

    On Aug. 1, 2017, OSHA went live with the data submission platform that certain employers will need to use when submitting their injury and illness (I/I) data to the agency by the revised Dec. 1, 2017, deadline. The requirements arise under OSHA’s electronic recordkeeping rule, which was promulgated in May 2016.

    ASSE crafts OSHA Reform Blueprint to improve workplace safety and health

    ASSE has crafted an “OSHA Reform Blueprint” that details its priorities and vision for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in a time of political change. The eight-page proposal calls for reforms to emphasize the management of risk, sharpen the agency’s focus on productive policies, and fill legislative and regulatory gaps.

    Revoking the Fair Pay & Safe Workplaces Order

    May 11, 2017
    On March 27, 2017, President Trump signed Executive Order (EO) 13782 that revoked former President Obama’s EO 13673 (the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Order) that was originally signed into law on July 31, 2014. Worker safety advocates supported the rule, and see the revocation as a clear sign that Congress and the administration are focused on business interests and not worker safety.

    Effects & Non-Effects of Congressional Action on Volks Rule

    Legislation directed at OSHA seldom makes it through Congress, so when an OSHA bill is signed into law, it gets attention and generates questions. And so it has been with H.J. Res. 83, the “resolution of disapproval” of OSHA’s Volks rule that passed both houses of Congress last month and was signed by President Trump.
