The ANSI/ASSP Z10 standard aims to help OSH professionals establish occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS) to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better working conditions. To help lead safety professionals through the process of establishing an OHSMS, ASSP has published two Z10 implementation manuals.
GM-Z10.100-2019, Guidance and Implementation Manual for ANSI/ASSP Z10.0-2019 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, provides guidance on ways to implement Z10. The guidance offers requirement-by-requirement suggestions on implementing and maintaining OSH management systems, and describes how to improve OSH performance. The step-by-step guidance is paired with tools that an organization can use to carry out each step of implementation. These include an example audit protocol, a conformance scorecard and an incident investigation form.
ASSP GM-Z10.101-2019, Guidance Manual: Keeping Your People Safe in Smaller Organizations, helps small businesses understand the importance of having an OHSMS, the fundamentals of OSH management and how to start developing a safety management system. This free manual provides forms and checklists to assist with accessing the current workplace program, and includes an approach to hazard identification, preparing for emergencies, and measuring success.
