Our Mid-Michigan, West Michigan and Greater Detroit chapters renewed their joint alliance with Michigan OSHA (MIOSHA). This third renewal of the alliance will mark 10 years of working together to achieve goals. As alliance partners, the three chapters raise awareness of MIOSHA's rulemaking and enforcement initiatives across the state. The chapters share information about ASSP members in Michigan and reinforce information on OSH laws and standards with members, including the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers.
The chapters partner with MIOSHA to host "Coffee With MIOSHA" events in locales throughout the state. These events educate members about upcoming events, initiatives, training opportunities and MIOSHA goals, and offer attendees opportunities to ask questions and network with MIOSHA staff.
To support the chapters, MIOSHA shares information on upcoming ASSP chapter meetings and events through its e-mails and newsletters, provides speakers and assists with topics for ASSP technical meetings and professional development conferences.
Grassroots efforts by ASSP chapters help to promote workplace safety. By getting involved with other organizations, ASSP chapters can help spread the message of safety to larger audiences. How is your chapter getting involved?
