Beth Brick, Central Florida Chapter member and a resident of Clermont, FL, attended a meeting of the City Commission on behalf of the chapter to accept the North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH) Proclamation from Mayor Gail Ash. For the past 12 years, the chapter has participated in NAOSH Week, requesting proclamations from the four counties in the chapter’s geographic area, as well as from cities in those counties and the State of Florida.
This year, without any prompting from the chapter, the city informed the chapter that the mayor was authoring a NAOSH Week proclamation and asked for a chapter representative to attend a meeting to receive it.
“Sometimes it takes weeks, months or even years, but safety culture change is happening all around us,” the chapter says. “When an entire municipality embraces occupational safety like this, it benefits all of its residents and society as a whole.”
