International Labor Organization’s (ILO) World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2019 takes stock of ILO’s 100 years of work in improving OSH and looks to the future. As part of this commemoration, the organization is featuring 33 original think pieces and accompanying video clips from members of the OSH community from around the world who share messages and testimonials on OSH and the future of work from various expert and practical aspects.

ASSP member Chris Laszcz-Davis, M.S., CIH, COH, FAIHA, AIC Fellow, is among the contributors. Laszcz-Davis’s piece, “The OSH Challenge: Understanding Our Emerging World and its Workforce Development Needs,” explores preparedness of organizations to address OSH challenges and workforce needs that arise from emerging markets and technologies, and changing social systems.

Laszcz-Davis is founder and president of The Environmental Quality Organization LLC. Prior to this, she was corporate vice-president, environmental affairs, health, safety, product stewardship and operational integrity for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp., and worked for the U.S. Department of Energy in both Washington, DC, and the west coast as a regional environmental health and safety manager and at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories.

Laszcz-Davis is a professional member of our San Francisco Chapter and a member of several practice specialties, including Construction, Consultants, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Management, Manufacturing, Risk Management/Insurance, and Training and Communications, and a member of our Women in Safety Excellence Common Interest Group. She is a member of our Council on Professional Affairs as well as our Total Worker Health Task Force.
