Northern Ohio Chapter Focuses on Military Safety Connection

Feb 01, 2019
181116-F-WH822-1003Members of our Northern Ohio Chapter visited the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, spending time with the 910th Airlift Wing’s safety officer, Col. Drew Tancer, and its occupational safety technician, Master Sgt. Michael Riggenbach.

Tancer briefed members on the Department of Defense's only large area fixed-wing aerial spray that can control disease-carrying insects, pest insects and undesirable vegetation, and can disperse oil spills in large bodies of water. Riggenbach described the C-130H Hercules safety protocols and measures.

ASSP has been actively working with military members who are separating from the U.S. Armed Forces to consider workplace safety as a second career. Both professions value leadership, loyalty, teamwork, strong communication and technical knowledge. In addition, ASSP Foundation offers scholarships to members of the military who are considering the path of the safety professional.
