ASSP’s Central Indiana Chapter worked with the St. Vincent de Paul organization to help community members in need. St. Vincent de Paul collects items for resale, and proceeds from the resale help feed and provide assistance to individuals in need. The organization donates bikes to homeless individuals in the community for travel to and from work or interviews.
Citing an incident a few years ago where a homeless person riding a bike at night was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, the chapter donated 143 high-visibility vests to be issued with the bikes. In addition to vests and bikes, the organization has also donated bike helmets.
“Community outreach and charitable opportunities is at the heart of our Central Indiana Chapter,” says Jeff Fox.
ASSP's chapters work to promote advocacy in their communities. This inspires others to offer their time and resources to great causes. How does your chapter contribute to the community? Share your story!
