ASSP Education Events Focus on Compliance and Standards

Jan 19, 2021

PARK RIDGE, IL — Occupational safety and health professionals have two upcoming opportunities to learn about compliance and standards at live virtual events offered by the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). The Compliance Event takes place Jan. 26 while the ANSI/ASSP Standards Event is set for Jan. 27.

Featuring sessions taught by some of the best instructors in the industry, the education events are designed to help safety professionals stay current on best practices while dealing with shrinking travel budgets and widespread physical distancing. The events are free for ASSP members – one of the many benefits of belonging to the world’s oldest professional safety organization.

At the full-day Compliance Event, industry experts will share their insights on how to effectively manage workplace safety and health while complying with OSHA regulations. Concurrent sessions will cover many topics, including workplace examinations, inspections and audits; OSHA 1910.146 and confined space entry; OSHA’s process safety management standard; respiratory protection programs during COVID-19; and employer rights in an OSHA inspection.

Attendees at the full-day ANSI/ASSP Standards Event will explore best practices in voluntary national consensus standards so they can help their employers improve safety management systems, manage fall protection and control hazardous energy. Concurrent sessions will highlight topics such as ANSI/ASSP Z10, ISO 45001, ANSI/ASSP Z359 on fall protection and restraint, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout and machine safeguarding.

Like all ASSP professional development opportunities, the two virtual events will deliver relevant information that attendees can immediately implement in their organizations. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in virtual networking breaks and a live Q&A with industry experts, in addition to a virtual expo.

Participants will receive on-demand access for 30 days and digital copies of key documents, as well as earning up to 1.3 continuing education units (CEUs) to help maintain their professional certifications.
