Planning Ahead: Instructors Sought for SafetyFOCUS 2021

Jan 15, 2020

PARK RIDGE, Illinois — While registered attendees prepare for next month’s SafetyFOCUS in Las Vegas, the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) is already recruiting instructors for the event’s 2021 edition that shifts to the MGM Grand. It’s an opportunity for safety experts to make a difference by contributing to the continuing education of occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals worldwide.

SafetyFOCUS is ASSP’s annual immersive education event that comprehensively covers the industry’s most relevant topics over eight days. The full-day course format – organized by experience level and industry tracks – allows attendees to gain deep knowledge on specific topics while building a schedule that fits their professional development needs.

Education tracks include certification preparation, fall protection/construction/OSH hazards, global/international, human performance, leadership development, risk, safety management systems, and training and communications.

Prospective instructors for 2021 are invited to submit a proposal to teach a course that would span one day, two days or three days from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. An ASSP panel will evaluate all instructor proposals against the following criteria:

  1. Degree to which the proposed course meets ASSP’s program objectives.
  2. Instructor’s presentation skills and teaching experience.
  3. Interest and need for the topic within the safety and health profession.

Interested instructors should submit proposals online by March 20. A separate application is required for each course, with a maximum of four per instructor. Please direct any questions to ASSP’s professional development staff at safetyfocusinstructor@assp.org.

For SafetyFOCUS 2020 that takes place Feb. 13-20, safety professionals can still register or obtain more information at SafetyFOCUS.assp.org.
