For several years, Professor Marina Brock has worked to establish an ASSP student section at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Her efforts have finally paid off!
Two of the academy's academic programs connect to the safety profession: Emergency Management and Marine Science Safety and Environmental Protection. Currently, nearly 100 students are enrolled in these programs.
“Due to our unique exposure to the maritime industry, we plan to develop networking and training opportunities that set our students up for success in maritime safety and land-based safety,” Brock says, adding that because the academy is a regimented college, “we can provide opportunities for developing disciplined and knowledgeable future leaders in the safety profession.”
