PARK RIDGE, IL — Occupational safety and health professionals who made a New Year’s resolution to pursue professional development have an immediate opportunity to check that off their list. The winter session of SafetyFOCUS from the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) will take place Feb. 13-17 in Orlando, FL, and online, and Feb. 20-24 online only.
The semi-annual immersive education experience helps workplace safety and health professionals acquire and maintain certifications, expand their expertise and grow their networks. Attendees should register by Thursday, Jan. 19, before rates increase.
In building a custom schedule that fits their goals, participants can learn from 40 industry experts who will present more than 60 courses in full- and half-day formats on a broad range of workplace safety and health topics. SafetyFOCUS is ASSP’s second-largest education event, which was recently expanded to twice a year.
Many courses are based on consensus standards and focus on business and leadership skills, certification preparation, risk assessment and management, safety management systems, fall protection and comprehensive worker health. Safety and health professionals can also start their journey toward ASSP’s new Risk Management Certificate by taking two of the three required courses.
The in-person courses will take place at the Orlando campus of Nova Southeastern University, 4850 Millenia Blvd. All online education will be accessible through Zoom. Participants can enroll in one-, two- or three-day courses and will have the same interactive learning experience whether they attend in person or online.
Attendees who register for two full weeks of courses either in person or online can earn up to 7 continuing education units (CEUs) that will help them maintain a range of professional certifications. Participants will also expand their professional networks and take away relevant information and practical guidance they can immediately implement to help their organizations prevent worker injuries, illnesses and fatalities.
Safety and health professionals can get the best available rate by registering online. Groups of five or more from the same company can save even more by contacting Account Manager Nancy O’Toole at 847.768.3466 or notoole@assp.org. ASSP members save on registration and receive discounts on all of the Society’s education, training and workplace safety standards. First-time attendees who have never been an ASSP member will receive a free one-year membership and complimentary practice specialty and common interest group memberships.
The safety and health of in-person attendees in Orlando is a priority. ASSP strongly recommends that attendees stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters. However, proof of vaccination is not required.
