Community Activities at Safety 2023

Mar 08, 2023

During Safety 2023, members and attendees will have many opportunities to connect with and learn about ASSP's common interest group and practice specialty member communities. We've highlighted several of these activities in this post. Participate in these activities to enhance the experience for all conference attendees and grow your community. Talk with your advisory committee about which activities your community will be a part of and who from your team will represent your community at each.

Lunchtime Meetups

  • Space will be available in the lunch area in the expo hall for communities to host informal lunch meetups. All conference attendees will be invited to connect with you and other members of your community, and learn more about common interest group and practice specialty communities. Select Monday or Tuesday for your meetup, recruit community leaders present to host your table during that time, and we’ll save a spot for you.
  • Register your community for this event. Each community should register only once. If your community has already selected a day, please do not submit additional requests.

Sunday Badge Pick-Up Greeters

  • Individual volunteers are invited to represent their community during registration badge pick-up on Sunday, June 4. Volunteers will greet attendees as they arrive at registration and be available to provide tips/answer experience questions from attendees as they pick up their badges and enjoy Sunday night activities.
  • Training will be available before the event, and staff support will be available onsite.
  • Sign-up for this activity as an individual.

Monday Night Social Greeters

  • Leaders who are planning to attend the Rockin’ on the Riverwalk Social on Monday, June 5 can sign up for a shift to serve in a welcome team capacity, circulating through the event to greet attendees and help them make connections.
  • Training will be provided before the event, and staff support will be available onsite.
  • Sign-up for this activity as an individual.

Community Leader Shift in the ASSP Booth

  • Individual volunteer leaders can sign up for a shift in the ASSP booth to engage with attendees, answer questions and share information about community activities. Shifts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and will take place during expo-only hours.
  • Training will be provided before the event, and staff support will be available onsite.
  • Sign-up for this activity as an individual.

Career Advancement Center

  • Volunteer leaders are invited to represent their communities at the Career Advancement Center Session “The Value of ASSP in Your Career” on Wednesday, June 6 from 9:45-10:30 a.m., which will be followed by a leader meet and greet.
  • By being proactive and seeking out opportunities for learning, community, and growth, you can take responsibility for your own career development and achieve your professional goals. Hear from ASSP’s President, Christine Sullivan and ASSP Foundation’s Chair Trish Ennis on how their active and intentional involvement at ASSP has positively affected their personal and professional lives. Joining them will be other leaders of ASSP and the ASSP Foundation who will be available to discuss how you can leverage your ASSP membership and the ASSP member community to develop and achieve your goals.
  • Register your community for this event.

Other Community Activities

  • If your community is self-organizing a social event, share the details with your staff liaison by April 1 to be included in conference materials.
  • We will share a list of Safety 2023 presenters from your community with you as we get closer to the conference. Use the list to spotlight members before the conference and support them during the event.
