ASSP Recruiting Safety Instructors for Two Events

Mar 01, 2023

PARK RIDGE, IL — The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) is seeking a diverse group of occupational safety and health professionals to join its team of instructors now being formed for two education events. The world’s oldest professional safety organization is a longtime industry leader in providing continuing education for workplace safety and health professionals around the world.

ASSP’s call for instructors includes courses to be delivered at SafetyFOCUS Fall 2023 on Sept. 18-22 in Arlington, VA, and online; and SafetyFOCUS Winter 2024 on Feb. 12-16 in San Francisco and online, and Feb. 19-23 online only.

“It’s a terrific opportunity for safety and health experts to contribute to the development of their colleagues while advancing our industry, which will ultimately help us better protect workers everywhere,” said ASSP President Christine Sullivan, CSP, ARM. “Being a course instructor is truly a rewarding experience.”

Courses range from half-days to three days and focus on business and leadership skills, fall protection, risk assessment and management, safety management systems and worker well-being. Prospective instructors must identify emerging issues, develop strategies for overcoming challenges and aim to expand attendee knowledge and professional skills.

ASSP members serving on the Society’s Council on Professional Development will evaluate all instructor proposals against the following criteria:

  1. Degree to which the proposed course meets ASSP’s program objectives.
  2. Instructor’s presentation skills and teaching experience.
  3. Interest and need for the topic within the safety and health profession.

Interested instructors should submit a separate application for each course, with a maximum of four submissions accepted per instructor. Please direct questions to ASSP’s professional development staff at safetyfocusinstructor@assp.org.

Course proposals for both events must be submitted online by April 5. ASSP will notify successful applicants via email by early May.
