In listening to our members and learning from our 109-year history, ASSP understands that achieving a culture of safety and equity requires consistent and purposeful action. That’s why in June 2020, our Board of Directors voted to establish a board-level task force that will help clearly define our goals for diversity, equity and inclusion.
“We can do more to honor our members’ deep insights and experiences by establishing trust, compassion and hope at every level of our organization,” says ASSP President Deborah Roy, M.P.H., R.N., CSP, COHN-S, FASSP, FAAOHN, who will serve on the task force with CEO Jennifer McNelly. “It’s not about replacing the voices of ASSP, but elevating the voices that are not being heard.”
The task force will guide the development of a recommended strategy and action plan to help ASSP better support a diverse membership reflective of the OSH profession. A separate staff team will address these issues internally.
