The Embry Riddle Student Section and the Central Florida Chapter continue to team up to provide “a day in the life of a safety professional” opportunities for section members. This semester, 16 students and their faculty advisor visited Walt Disney World Resort where the EPCOT safety team provided tours and presentations. Chapter members Ken Motsenbocker, Mike Kost, Jennifer Pullium and Scott Galas were among the Disney employees who shared their experiences with the students.
The group toured the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction maintenance bay with the engineering services team, the festival kitchen with the food and beverage team and The Seas aquarium with the animals, science and environment team. In addition, the pyrotechnics team explained how the Harmonious spectacular show is brought to life.
“This field trip has been very rewarding and helped show my peers that there is so much more to safety,” says Section President Susan Nitch. “In fact, several students expressed an interest in the safety internship program at Walt Disney World.”
