Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, is situated in Region VII under our Central Indiana Chapter. The school's Occupational Health Sciences program, which currently has nearly 40 students, offers B.S. and M.S. degrees, as well as a Ph.D. in Occupational Health Sciences, Construction Management and Industrial Technology.
Building on information and support provided by Region VII Vice President Chet Brandon, graduate student and ASSP member Mishael Theis took the lead in promoting the group and recruiting the members needed to form the section. Mark D. Wilson, Ph.D., M.S., GSP, is the section's faculty advisor.
One unique aspect of this student section is that it will be a joint section with the American Industrial Hygiene Association student group that will provide students with broader knowledge of occupational safety and health. The group is eager to start setting goals that will differentiate it from other ASSP student sections.
