Our Central Florida Chapter's dedication to community outreach over the years has inspired local recognition of occupational safety and health. The city of Clermont, FL, recently recognized North American Occupational Safety and Health Week and Occupational Safety and Health Professionals Day, May 7, 2019. Chapter member Beth Brick, GSP, attended the Clermont City Council Meeting to accept the proclamation from Mayor Gail Ash.
The chapter has spent many years talking to local municipalities at the city, county and state levels about the importance of workplace safety and health, and what OSH professionals do. "Sometimes it takes weeks, months or even years, but safety culture change is happening all around us," says Central Florida Chapter's Heather Earl, CSP, CPEA, SMS. "When an entire municipality embraces occupational safety like this, it benefits all of its residents and society as a whole."
