ASSP Foundation Update

May 07, 2019

It has been an action-packed year for the ASSP Foundation, and we are grateful for the continued support of the entire ASSP community.

Scholarship and Grant Program

Earlier this year, the Foundation awarded a record-breaking $408,000 to students and OSH professionals through the ASSP Foundation Scholarship and Grant Program. Thank you to all who generously donate to this ever-growing program. Congratulations to this year’s awardees!

The ASSP Foundation Family Scholarship, available to family members who have lost a loved one in a workplace incident, provides educational funding to minimize the financial impact of their loss and encourage continuing education. This past month, the ASSP Foundation along with ASSP Region VIII awarded Kaley Renslow $5,000 to complete her studies. Contributions from chapters and regions have played a significant role in our ability to support these and other initiatives. Thank you!

Please keep this program in mind if you know a family affected by a workplace indecent, who could use the support of this scholarship award.

Research Program

The ASSP Foundation completed a three-year research study that shows the value of wearable technology in the workplace. Under the direction of Lora Cavuoto, assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering at University at Buffalo, SUNY, “Advancing Safety Surveillance Using Individualized Sensor Technology,” focuses on implementing sensor technology to track fatigue in individuals.

House of Delegates Meeting

As leaders of the profession, you can see the direct benefit of your generosity in the success of our programs, dedicated to safety education, leadership development and research. ASSP Foundation Chair Linda Tapp will publicly acknowledge all ASSP chapter and region donations made during the last fiscal year (April 2018 to March 2019) during the State of the Foundation speech at the June 9 House of Delegates at Safety 2019 in New Orleans, LA.

We will continue the chapter-driven tradition of opening the floor for any chapter or region to make a new donation. We are incredibly excited to continue partnering with you in supporting safety students and professionals within the ASSP community.

If you have any questions, please contact the ASSP Foundation.
