PARK RIDGE, Illinois — The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the world’s oldest professional safety organization, is working with executive search firm Korn Ferry to hire its next executive director. Dennis Hudson, ASSE's current executive director, is set to retire in April after two years in that position and 10 years at the Society overall. His replacement will become the eighth executive director since ASSE was founded in 1911.
"We welcome nominations of experienced executives who would be a great fit for this important role," said ASSE President Jim Smith, M.S., CSP. “ASSE has a rich history in occupational safety and health, and we look to continue our success in advancing the profession and advocating for safer workplaces around the world.”
The successful candidate will work with the ASSE Board of Directors to execute the Board’s strategic policies and programs while building on the Society’s 106-year legacy and addressing the evolving needs of the professional occupational safety and health community. ASSE seeks a visionary, innovative individual who will lead the organization of 75 staff members and more than 37,000 safety and health professionals worldwide as it launches its new brand in 2018.
“Dennis has been a dynamic and trusted leader who has made valuable contributions to ASSE and the occupational safety and health profession,” Smith said. “We’re aiming to find a successor who will build on his dedicated work to position ASSE as a thought leader, continue our growth and improve our brand.”
Potential candidates can learn more about the opportunity by visiting the job posting on the Korn Ferry website.
