Wayne Vanderhoof, CSP, CIT

Biography

Wayne Vanderhoof is a Certified Safety Professional with more than 30 years of experience in public safety, mechanical engineering design, and worker safety. For the past 16 years, Wayne has been the Senior Consultant and President of RJR Safety Inc. a safety consulting practice in the manufacturing, oil & gas, and construction industries advising company executives, management, and workers on issues relating to occupational safety and health including OSHA compliance, injury prevention, and loss control and prevention. Mr. Vanderhoof has worked extensively with clients to ensure compliance with safety requirements and OSHA regulations, conduct safety audits, develop safety programs and procedures, and implement safety processes as required. His expertise includes conducting compliance inspections; creating and delivering a variety of safety training programs; and investigating incidents, analyzing root causes, and developing corrective action plans. Mr. Vanderhoof has a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University, is a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), a Co-Chair of the Safety Committee for Pennsylvania Independent Oil & Gas Association (PIOGA). Wayne is an adjunct Instructor for West Virginia University, an Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor, authorized SafeLand USA Instructor, and Train the Trainer Instructor for Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Training through West Virginia University. Wayne is currently immediate Past President of ASSP's Western Pennsylvania Chapter. Wayne has been the Professional Development Chair of the OGMMR PS for the past four years.

Platform Statement

My vision for the assistant administrator position with the Oil, Gas, Mining and Mineral Resources Practice Specialty is to assist the Administrator in providing value to the practice specialty's members through organizing conference calls, meetings, webinars, open-calls, and social events at ASSP's annual professional development conference. The vision continues with developing the practice specialty into the technical subject-matter experts for the oil, gas, and mining industries.
