Biography

With over 15 years of experience in environmental health and safety (EHS), I have worked across diverse industries, including oil and gas, mining, state government, and higher education. Currently, I serve as the College of Engineering’s safety manager at Auburn University, leading initiatives to reduce research-related risks while promoting safety education for faculty, staff, and students. My role in higher education has allowed me to foster a culture of safety and contribute to national recognition of the college's safety efforts. I hold a Master’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering with a concentration in Occupational Safety and Ergonomics from Auburn University, a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health Science from Georgia Southern University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Cape Coast. Additionally, I am a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. An active member of ASSP since 2016, I currently serve as Administrator of the Blacks in Safety Excellence (BISE) Common Interest Group. In this role, I’ve focused on member engagement and strategic initiatives, such as the successful endowment of a $30,000 scholarship for Black students pursuing EHS degrees. I have also established monthly virtual meetings to connect members and address their professional challenges. Outside of ASSP, I serve as program chair for the NSC Young Professionals Division and on the AIHA Member Engagement Advisory Group. These experiences reflect my commitment to leadership, community building, and driving value to the ASSP membership and broader safety community.

Platform Statement

I am honored to be considered for the role of Vice President, Council on Region Affairs within ASSP. Throughout my leadership journey, I have been dedicated to advancing the occupational safety and health (OSH) profession by fostering collaboration, engaging members, and leading impactful initiatives. My alignment with ASSP’s CLEAR values—Community, Leadership, Excellence, Accountability, and Respect—drives my commitment to this position. In my leadership journey with ASSP, I have prioritized member engagement and value. As BISE Executive Secretary, I enhanced member involvement by leading virtual networking sessions, and as Assistant Administrator, I worked to revitalize our branding and content, maintaining and growing membership. As Administrator, I spearheaded monthly virtual meetings to better connect members, and led the successful endowment of a $30,000 scholarship to support Black students pursuing EHS degrees. These efforts reflect my focus on collaboration and inclusion as well as reinforces my belief in the power of strategic leadership to create a thriving and supporting community that makes lasting impact. As Vice President, Council on Region Affairs, I will work to empower regional vice presidents and chapters to deliver exceptional value to our members, while ensuring alignment with ASSP’s strategic goals and bylaws. My focus will be on fostering open communication, supporting chapter development, and providing the necessary tools and resources for each region to engage members, drive professional development, and address evolving challenges in the OSH field. With a proven ability to bring people together and achieve common objectives, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute on a broader scale. Together, we can elevate the safety profession, nurture future leaders, and ensure that ASSP’s regions and chapters continue to thrive. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to serve ASSP and support its mission.
